Snappy Record Covers
While not all of these came from my parents' living room, a lot of them could have. One of my most enjoyable experiences of going to visit my Mom and Dad is bringing out some of these eclectic old LPs (many of them autographed) and having a listen. They actually have a lot more standard Gospel - the Torchmen, etc. This stuff is a bit more 'out there.'
And then there is the whole 'ventriloquism' genre of LP. Hmmm?

Yeah, these are great :). We had a good chuckle last night over a few of these, didn't we. I especially like the Ventriloquists, because when listening to a record of a ventriloquist....you can't see them and isn't that the whole point? For all we know, they could just be sitting in a room speaking in 2 voices and not doing ventriloquism at all. I guess it's all on the honour system? Still it's somehow not the same as in person......Anywhoo, it's awesome you came across these.... :)
wow there are some special ones in there, you guys.
my favs are "the addicts" and rev clarence's title.
I don't really understand "lubricate my bones" -- maybe I will when I'm older?
Oh, mercy. These are funny! (I thought the singing addicts was kind of touching ... even with their flying heads.)
I don't understand "lubricate my bones" either. Perhaps it's a quote from Ezekiel or something?
These are hilarious!
Lord Lubricate My Bones?!?!?!?! Maybe that one is a typo
Best post on a blog I've seen in a while! :) Too fun!
These people (after they die) must become the patron saints of holy laughter. Thank you God for their gift to the world!
I have always found ventriloquist's puppets super creepy.
it's those buggy eyes and that unrelenting horrible grin. ugh.
still gives me shivers.
it's so funny though, that they're on a record!!!!!????
Hey Matthew,
I love that shot of Jack Van Impe with an accordion. It's been ages since I've seen his show. I think it would be really funny to do our own eschatology show like that as a joke, or start a website featuring articles that make ridiculously farfetched parallels between headlines and Scripture, perhaps in the style of the Harpers Weekly Review.
Sounds good to me, Matthew. Did you ever see the one where Rexella sang? It was great. Jack was all tentative for a while, cuz, you know, it's a NEWS BROADCAST after all... but the letters from viewers were so persuasive that she did do a number or two. Ha!
I desperately want a bumper sticker that says 'I ain't into that', or a lapel pin, or something! That is too funny. Makes me think of Meatloaf's "I would do anything for love/but I won't do that". Oh, so funny, so funny.
For some reason I am also reminded of a friend in highschool who was excitedly showing something funny to someone and got mixed up between "This will crack you up" and "This will make you laugh your head off" and it came out "This will crack your head off"!
